Australian Open 2019: Novak Djokovic vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: Where to watch & live stream details
Back in 2008, Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga were the new kids on the block when they faced off in the final of the Australian Open. The Serb went on win that match after battling from a set down to start what was to become a dazzling career in Slams.
11 years later, the two meet -- this time as veterans who have seen and done a lot over the past decade. Djokovic, of course, is the higher accomplished player in this rivalry, having 14 Slams besides his name.
Tsonga, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 5 in 2012, has 16 titles to show for in a career that might not have reached the heights of Djokovic's but hasn't been shabby either.
This will be their first showdown since coming back from their respective injury lay-offs. An elbow injury curbed Djokovic the chance to win a Slam for two years until he grabbed two in a row at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2018.
Tsonga was on a hiatus for a long period due to a knee trouble and he was able to rejoin the Tour only in October. Even though he did start 2019 on a positive note by reaching the semi-finals at Brisbane, his record of losing his last three matches to the Serb puts the World No. 1 at an advantage.
