Jack Draper vs Marcos Giron preview
Jack Draper and Marcos Giron are set to clash in the first round of the 2024 Australian Open on Tuesday.
Draper has begun the new year with a bang. Competing at the Adelaide International, he scored a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win over fifth seed Sebastian Baez in the first round.
Draper then saved a couple of match points during his win over Miomir Kecmanovic in the second round. He upset top seed Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals after that as he secured a 6-1, 6-4 win over him.
Draper continued his giant-killing spree as he defeated eighth seed Alexander Bublik 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the semifinals. He will contest his second career final against seventh seed Jiri Lehecka on Saturday (January 13).
Giron concluded the 2023 season with three consecutive first-round exits. His fortunes didn't improve in the new year either. He participated in the ASB Classic in Auckland but fell to Daniel Altmaier in the opening round.

Jack Draper vs Marcos Giron prediction
Draper's debut at last year's Australian Open ended on a disappointing note as he crashed out in the first round itself. However, it seems quite unlikely that history will repeat itself. The often-injured Brit is finally showing what he's capable of when completely healthy.
All four players Draper knocked out en route to the final in Adelaide were ranked higher than him. He's now on the cusp of claiming his maiden ATP title, but Lehecka won't be a pushover.
A win over the weekend would certainly boost Draper's confidence before heading to Melbourne. As for Giron, he extended his losing streak to five matches with his first-round defeat in Auckland. The American went through a rough patch last year as well but he was able to salvage his ranking with a couple of good runs.
But now, Giron seems to be struggling again. There's not much he would be able to do against an in-form player like Draper. The Brit has momentum on his side right now and would be keen to make the most of it to make a winning start at the Australian Open.
Pick: Jack Draper to win in straight sets.
