Stan Wawrinka vs Adrian Mannarino preview
Three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka will take on Adrian Mannarino in the first round of the Swiss Indoors 2024.
Wawrinka had compiled a 6-14 record until last week's Stockholm Open, where he registered the best week of his season thus far. He beat World No. 38 Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 6-4 in his opener for his first win over a top 40 player this season.
Wawrinka then ousted Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in three sets to win back-to-back matches for the first time this year. He toppled top seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals for his first win over a top 10 player in a year. His campaign came to an end in the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat to eventual champion Tommy Paul.
Almost half of Mannarino's 13 wins this season came during the first two months, which included a fourth-round finish at the Australian Open and a semifinal in Dallas. Since his exit from the latter tournament, he has won an additional seven matches.
Mannarino also racked up a 10-match losing streak between June and August. His recent results include a quarterfinal appearance at the Chengdu Open, a second-round showing at the China Open and at last week's Almaty Open, and a first-round exit from the Shanghai Masters.

Stan Wawrinka vs Adrian Mannarino prediction
Wawrinka will be feeling confident after his season's most successful outing in Stockholm last week. With some quality wins over top players under his belt, he has now moved back into the top 200 of the rankings this week. He will now aim to step up at his home event, where he has a modest 15-15 career record.
Mannarino had already won two titles by this time last year and had reached an additional final as well. He has struggled mightily this season regardless of who is on the other side of the net. However, with a perfect winning record against Wawrinka, he could play with his usual belief.
Mannarino staged an impressive comeback to get the better of the Swiss when they crossed paths at the season's first Major earlier this year. Wawrinka led by two sets to one but could manage to squeeze in only three more games after that. However, the Frenchman's form has fallen off a cliff since then, so this could be his best opportunity to score his first win in this rivalry.
Pick: Stan Wawrinka to win in three sets.
