Coco Gauff vs Ons Jabeur preview
The quarterfinals in Berlin will have top seed Coco Gauff take on two-time former Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur in a marquee clash on Friday.
Gauff, the newly crowned World No. 2, opened her campaign with a tight 7-6(6), 6-2 win over the big-hitting Ekaterina Alexandrova. With the win, the youngster’s win-loss for the season improved to an impressive 31-9.
Despite it being her first match on grass in nearly 12 months, Gauff surprisingly showed little rustiness. She will look to build on the momentum heading into the Wimbledon Championships.
Jabeur, meanwhile, is through to her second quarterfinal on grass this season. The Tunisian had beaten Camila Osorio and Linda Fruhvirtova en-route to the last-eight in Nottingham, but could not get a win against the big-serving Karolina Pliskova.
Having arrived in Berlin with a 12-11 win-loss for the season, she got the better of talented youngsters in the form of Wang Xinyu and Linda Noskova in two tough matches.
Coco Gauff vs Ons Jabeur head-to-head

Coco Gauff vs Ons Jabeur prediction
Ons Jabeur’s well-rounded game is tailor-made for grass. Her slices and dropshot work wonders in the conditions beside the usual big forehand.
In the match against Noskova, the Tunisian was particularly impressive on her first serve, winning 75% of the points behind it. She also saved two of the three breakpoints faced and converted four of the six opportunities that came her way.
Playing against someone like Gauff, who has a big weapon in the form of her first serve (she won an even higher 80% points behind the shot in her opener), Jabeur will be keen on repeating those figures.
The American has lost their only previous meeting on grass to Jabeur. However, by winning against Alexandrova in her opener, she seems to be geared up for the challenge.
Given her run of form this season and the lopsided record against the Tunisian, she could well be on her way to reverse another result on grass in the quarterfinals.
Prediction: Gauff to win in three sets.
