Madison Keys vs Marketa Vondrousova preview
Seventh seed Madison Keys of the United States will take on Marketa Vondrousova of Czech Republic in the first round of Berlin Tennis Open in Berlin on Monday, June 16.
Keys made a brilliant start to the current year, winning her first Grand Slam at Australian Open in January. She then reached the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the quarterfinals of Madrid Open and the French Open. Keys started the grass-court season well, reaching the semifinal of the HSBC Open at Queen's Club in London.
Vondrousova, who won the Wimbledon title as an unseeded player in 2023, has had to deal with a surgery on her left shoulder in the recent past. Hence, she has only played in a few tournaments in 2025 and her rankng has dropped as a result. Vondrousova reached the third round of the French Open, and the Berlin Open is going to be her first tournament in the grass-court season.
Madison Keys vs Marketa Vondrousova head-to-head
The two players have clashed only once so far on the WTA Tour and Keys won that match. They met in the quarterfinals of the 2023 US Open which Keys won in straight sets.

Madison Keys vs Marketa Vondrousova prediction
Keys is appearing to be a late bloomer in tennis and is regularly making it deep into tournaments despite being on the wrong side of 30. She is a solid baseliner and should be able to deal with a decent volleyer like Vondrousova well.
Vondrousova might try to attack the net frequently in the match against Keys on grass on Monday, but the latter is a solid enough player to defend against that tactic. Moreover, Vondrousova should be rusty because of her lack of match-practice this year.
Hence, Keys should find it relatively easy to get past the 25-year-old Czech on Monday. However, Vondrousova might be able to win a set on the day against the American. The Czech would have proved to be a tougher opponent for Keys without her injuries.
Pick: Keys to win in three sets.
