Jannik Sinner vs Alejandro Tabilo preview
Top seed Jannik Sinner will square off against Alejandro Tabilo in the third round of the Canadian Open.
Sinner has been outstanding on the men's tour this year. He opened his account at the Majors by clinching the Australian Open and added more titles to his locker in Rotterdam, Miami and Halle. He came close to winning his second Major title of the year in Paris, but came up shy against Carlos Alcarz in the semifinals.
The Italian entered Montreal on the back of a quarterfinal exit in Wimbledon at the hands of Daniil Medvedev. He started his campaign by breezing past Borna Coric in the first round, 6-2, 6-4. The 22-year-old won 84% of his first serve points and held his serve at all times against the Croat.
Alejandro Tabilo, meanwhile, has had a breakthrough season on the men's tour this year. The Chilean announced himself with a brilliant title-triumph in Auckland and then achieved more success in Mallorca. He also reached the finals of the Chile Open, but settled for a second-place finish against Sebastian Baez.
Tabilo entered Montreal on the back of disappointing runs in Kitzbuhel and the Paris Olympics. He restored order by outfoxing Frances Tiafoe in the first round and then overpowered Lorenzo Sonego in the second. The 27-year-old defeated Sonego in one hour and 19 minutes, 6-4, 6-2.

Jannik Sinner vs Alejandro Tabilo prediction
Jannik Sinner looks to have made the most of his brief spell on the sidelines due to Tonsillitis. He was forced to miss the Paris Olympics, but looks fresh and raring to go again on the men's tour. The Italian has ticked all the right boxes this season and will be eager to finish on a strong note.
Tabilo, too, is blossoming into a top competitor on the men's tour. The Chilean not only clinched two titles this year, but also stunned the veteran Novak Djokovic en route to the semifinals in Rome. He's looked sharp at the Canadian Open so far, winning 81% of his first serve points against Sonego in the previous round.
The Montreal crowd can expect a gripping encounter between Sinner and Tabilo. Both players like to showcase their dominance from the baseline and use their rocketing groundstrokes to great effect. Tabilo has shown that he can hang around with the best in the past but dealing with Sinner in the third round will be a tough ask for the Chilean.
Pick: Sinner to win in three-sets.
