Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Kei Nishikori preview
Eighth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off against Kei Nishikori in the second round of the National Bank Open 2024 on Wednesday, August 6, in Montreal, Canada.
Tsitsipas has not won a title since winning the one in Monte Carlo this year. He has made deep runs into some of the tournaments he has played in but has found it difficult to attain ultimate glory.
The 25-year-old reached the final of the Swiss Open in Gstaad but lost to Matteo Berrettini in the final. He also lost to Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the fourth round and quarterfinal of the French Open and the Paris Olympics, respectively.
Nishikori, meanwhile, has played in only a few tournaments this year so far. He lost in the second round of the French Open and in the first round of the Miami Open in 2024. However, the 34-year-old Japanese beat Alex Michelsen 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of the Canadian Open.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Kei Nishikori head-to-head
Tsitsipas and Nishikori have met each other twice so far, with both players winning a match apiece. Their head-to-head, therefore, stands at 1-1.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Kei Nishikori prediction.
Tsitsipas is the favorite for this match hands down. Nishikori should be a bit rusty, as he has not played much tennis of late. On the other hand, Tsitsipas is a genuine top-10 player, who is capable of beating the very best in the business.
However, the Greek's backhand is his weakness and Nishikori should try to exploit that. The Japanese has a powerful backhand himself and should try to play as many crosscourt backhands as possible to engage Tsitsipas' backhand.
Nevertheless, Tsitsipas should be able to dictate terms with his serve and forehand frequently enough to win the match. Nishikori might actually struggle to take a set off his Greek opponent. In the end, Tsitsipas should be able to win the match convincingly to move into the third round.
Pick: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets
