World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz will take on Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday. This will be the sixth meeting between the duo this year, with Alcaraz leading their head-to-head battle 3-2. The Spaniard outfoxed Paul most recently at the Wimbledon Championships last month, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

Alcaraz has raised the bar for his peers on tour in the last couple of years. He's had an excellent season so far, garnering 36 wins from 42 matches, including title-winning runs in the BNP Paribas Open, French Open and the iconic Wimbledon Championships. The 21-year-old started his campaign in Paris by cruising past Hady Habib and Tallon Griekspoor in the first two rounds. He then showed his class against Roman Safiullin in the third and defeated the Russian in one hour and 30 minutes, 6-4, 6-2.

Tommy Paul, on the contrary, has also had a solid season so far. He's chalked up 34 wins from 46 matches, including title-winning runs at the Dallas Open and the Queens Club Championships. He also secured a runner-up finish in Delray Beach and reached the semifinals in Indian Wells and Rome.

The American started his campaign in Paris by breezing past Luciano Darderi and Jakub Mensik in the first two rounds. He then overpowered Corentin Moutet en route to the quarterfinals 7-6(5), 6-3 in two hours and 18 minutes.
