Anna Kalinskaya vs Yuliia Starodubtseva preview
The fourth round at the 2024 China Open will feature a match between the 10th seed Anna Kalinskaya and Yuliia Starodubtseva. Kalinskaya is having a breakout year on the WTA Tour, winning 36 of the 52 she has played this year. She last played at the US Open, losing to Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round. She reached the finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships and Ecotrans Ladies Open, losing to Jasmine Paolini and Jessica Pegula.
At the China Open, the tenth seed received an opening-round bye. She won against American qualifier Hailey Baptiste in the second round in three tight sets. She won against Peyton Stearns in the third round, as the American player retired during the third set.
Yuliia Starodubtseva has mostly played on the ITF circuit and in the qualifiers in 2024. The Ukrainian has not been a regular participant in the main draws of the WTA events. She last played at the Jasmin Open, reaching the quarterfinal as a qualifier, before losing to Sonay Kartal.
Starodubtseva began her China Open campaign by defeating Carol Zhao and Jang Su-jeong in the qualifiers. In the main draw, she defeated Laura Siegemund in the first round in straight sets. She had similar straight-set victories over Katerina Siniakova and Elina Avanesyan in the next two rounds to reach the fourth round.

Anna Kalinskaya vs Yuliia Starodubtseva prediction
Kalinskaya has a 54 percent win record on hard courts, which is the best for the Russian player across the three surfaces. Her one final appearance on a hard-court event came in Dubai this year. She has gradually climbed the rankings this year and is on the cusp of breaking into the top 10.
Starodubtseva has yet to make a meaningful run at any of the events she has played. She did reach the quarterfinals in Monastir after four consecutive victories, but the Ukrainian will look to make a deep run at a WTA 1000 event.
Being a top 15 ranked player in one of her best seasons on Tour, Kalinskaya will be the favorite to win the upcoming match.
Pick: Kalinskaya to win in straight sets
