Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka preview
Top seed Jannik Sinner will face Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals of the China Open 2024.
Sinner's title defense in Beijing commenced with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 comeback win over Nicolas Jarry. He took on lucky loser Roman Safiullin for a spot in the last eight. The Italian initially overcame a break deficit in the first set to get back on serve.
However, Sinner couldn't do the same for a second time, and the set slipped out of his grasp. He raised his level in the second set, and after wasting a few break point chances, went on a four-game run to take the set.
The defending champion set the pace in the third set as he raced to a 3-0 lead. He kept Safiullin at bay until the end to register a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 comeback win and extended his unbeaten run here to seven matches.
Lehecka secured a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over Pedro Martinez to book a second-round showdown against Roberto Bautista Agut. The Czech youngster went down a break of serve in the first set and couldn't recover after that, and lost the set.
Lehecka was quick to react in the second set and began his comeback. He swept five of the last six games to force a decider. He continued to steamroll Bautista Agut and dropped only one game in the third set to score a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Sinner had to stage a comeback for the second match in a row. He got better and better as the match went on in both rounds. He won 82 percent of his first serve points against Safiullin and struck 25 winners against 23 unforced errors.
Lehecka had a good day on serve as well against Bautista Agut and won 83 percent of his first serve points. He hit 26 winners, of which 12 were aces. However, his unforced error count was on the higher side at 37.
Lehecka couldn't make any inroads on Sinner's serve when they last crossed paths at the Indian Wells Masters. He won only 13 points on return and didn't break the Italian's serve even once.
Sinner hasn't looked completely settled here, and Lecheka could capitalize on that. However, the defending champion hasn't lost a match since winning the Cincinnati Open and is on a 13-match winning streak. As has been the case for most of this season, he will start as the favorite in yet another match.
Pick: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.
