Jannik Sinner vs Nicolas Jarry preview
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner will start his title defense at the China Open against Nicolas Jarry. The winner of the match will face either Stan Wawrinka or Jan-Lennard Struff in the second half.
Sinner will compete in his first tournament since his US Open triumph. He beat Mackenzie McDonald, Alex Michelsen, Christopher O'Connell, 14th seed Tommy Paul, fifth seed Daniil Medvedev, and 25th seed Jack Draper to reach the final.
Here, the Italian produced a fine performance to beat Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-2, 7-5 and win his second Grand Slam title. The 23-year-old also became the first Italian male player to win the singles title at the US Open.
Nicolas Jarry started his Asian swing at the Chengdu Open after suffering a first-round exit at the New York Major. The Chilean was the third seed at the ATP 250 event and received a bye to the second round.
Jarry edged out Lukas Klien 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals, where he faced Alibek Kachmazov. The latter performed well to beat the Chilean 6-3, 6-4. Jarry has won just one out of eight matches since his incredible run to the final of the Italian Open.

Jannik Sinner vs Nicolas Jarry prediction
Given his scintillating run, Sinner will enter the match as the overwhelming favorite to win. Jarry beat the Italian in their previous encounter but that came five years back, and the latter has improved massively since then.
Sinner served 54 aces during the US Open and has a serve good enough to fetch him free points. The Italian's aggressive baseline game, on-court movement, and mentality will also be handy.
Jarry has an impressive serve producing 30 aces from his two matches at the Chengdu Open. While the Chilean is very good on clay, he has had a few promising performances on hard courts this season, notably reaching the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Jarry has had a string of disastrous performances since his run to the final in Rome, and he will have to be at his absolute best to stand a chance against Sinner.
Based on recent performance, the Italian is the best player in the world and should not have much trouble beating Jarry.
Pick: Sinner wins in straight sets.
