Cincinnati Masters review: Federer beats Ferrer to win first Masters in two years

The Cincinnati Masters concluded with Roger Federer winning his 80th career title. The Swiss champion defeated David Ferrer 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to lift to the trophy. Federer has now beaten Ferrer in all 16 encounters between them and will go into the US Open high on confidence. He has a strong shout to lift an 18th Grand Slam with defending champion Rafael Nadal ruled out due to wrist injury.   

The tournament saw several sensation plays, extreme emotions and nerve-racking points. Here are the top five hot shots. 


It was Federer’s first Masters trophy after winning the same tournament in 2012. He savoured the victory after losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final of the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
