Jasmine Paolini vs Mirra Andreeva preview
Fifth seed Jasmine Paolini will face Mirra Andreeva in the third round of the Cincinnati Open 2024.
Following a first-round bye, Paolini took on Anastasia Potapova in the second round. The Italian led 5-1 in the first set and served for it twice. However, her opponent clawed her way back and forced a tie-break.
Paolini came out on top in it to take a one-set lead. The second set didn't have as many twists and turns. The World No. 5 raised her level towards the end as she went on a three-game run to win the match 7-6 (2), 6-2.
Andreeva scored an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over 11th seed Emma Navarro to reach the second round, where former World no. 1 Karolina Pliskova awaited her. The teenager was in control right from the start and broke her opponent's serve twice in each set to secure a 6-2, 6-3 win.

Jasmine Paolini vs Mirra Andreeva prediction
Andreeva has been in great form this week and has faced only one break point across both of her matches thus far. Paolini lost the plot for a while against Potapova in the first set, but regrouped in the nick of time to claim it and played a lot better in the second set.
Their most recent encounter was actually in doubles, with Andreeva and Paolini facing off in the women's doubles gold medal play-off match at the Paris Olympics. The Italian won that match, and their previous singles match at the French Open as well, losing only four games.
Andreeva won their very first duel in Madrid earlier this year in straight sets. Both have performed well this year, especially Paolini, whose career has taken off. However, the teen looks to be quite focused this week, and based on her performances this week, could outplay the Italian to make the last eight here.
Pick: Mirra Andreeva to win in straight sets.
