Dallas 2023 Day 6: Men's Singles Predictions ft. John Isner vs J.J. Wolf, Taylor Fritz vs Yibing Wu

The sixth day of main-draw action at the 2023 ATP 250 Dallas Open on Saturday (February 11) will feature both men's singles semifinals.

The fifth day of the competition had the four quarterfinals, where sixth seed J.J. Wolf, fifth seed John Isner, top seed Taylor Fritz and Chinese sensation Wu Yibing reached the last four. They respectively beat second seed Frances Tiafoe, Emilio Gomez, seventh seed Marcos Giron and Adrian Mannarino.

With the field in Dallas down to the final four, here's a look at how the two semifinals could pan out on Saturday:

Fifth seed John Isner will take on sixth seed J.J. Wolf on Saturday for a place in the Dallas final.

Having got off the mark for the season with his opening-round win over Tseng Chun-hsin, the 39th-ranked Isner improved to 3-2 in 2023 by seeing off Emilio Gomez in straight sets on Friday to return to the semifinals,

Meanwhile, Wolf has continued his inspired start to the season in Dallas. After reaching the Australian Open fourth round last month, the World No. 43 is 7-2 in 2023 after upsetting second seed Frances Tiafoe in three sets.

Isner won his lone previous meeting with Wolf in Atlanta two years ago. Nevertheless, despite playing four tiebreaks in six sets this week, expect the big-serving American to end the inspired run of his younger compatriot.

Prediction: Isner in three sets

#2 Taylor Fritz (top seed in Dallas) vs Yibing Wu

Fritz is looking for his first title of the season.

Top seed Taylor Fritz needed three sets to see off compatriot Marcos Giron to book a last-four date with Yibing Wu.

The eighth-ranked Fritz improved to 7-2 on the season after getting past Giron in the last eight. He was coming off a second-round exit at the Australian Open after winning four of his five matches at the inaugural United Cup.

Meanwhile, World No. 97 Wu is having a dream campaign in Dallas after breaking into the top 100 earlier this month. The 23-year-old Chinese downed third seed Denis Shapovalov in the last eight before dumping out the eighth-seeded Mannarino - both without dropping a set - to reach the last four.

Fritz has never squared off against Wu before, but the 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist should have enough in the tank to end the inspired run of the Chinese right-hander.

Prediction: Fritz in straight sets
