Taylor Fritz vs Yibing Wu preview
Taylor Fritz will take on Chinese sensation Yibing Wu in Dallas on Saturday as he seeks his first final of the season.
Fritz returned to winning ways after a disappointing second-round exit at the Australian Open last month. Having won four of his five matches at the inaugural United Cup, the World No. 8 was expected to go deep at Melbourne Park. While a lot of American players had dream runs at the first Grand Slam of the year, Fritz wasn't one of them, stumbling in the second round against Alexei Popyrin.
Nevertheless, the 25-year-old is now 7-2 on the season after downing compatriot Marcos Giron to reach the Dallas last four.
23-year-old Wu is having a dream campaign at the ATP 250 event in North America. After stunning third seed Denis Shapovalov in the second round, the Chinese repeated the trick against eighth-seeded Adrian Mannarino to reach the last four.
Having broken into the top 100 earlier this month, Wu will break into the top 80 if he topples top-seeded Fritz on Saturday.

Taylor Fritz vs Yibing Wu prediction
On paper, the contest looks like a mismatch. Fritz is an established top-10 player, winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title, reaching his first Grand Slam quarterfinal and debuting in the ATP Finals last year.
Meanwhile, the younger Wu has only broken into the top 100 this month and reached his first ATP quarterfinal and semifinal this week. He's clearly riding a purple patch after downing seeded opponents in successive rounds.
With a place in his first final beckoning, Wu will have nothing to lose against an opponent who's expected to win, considering their gulf in experience. The big-serving Fritz should do just that as he eyes his first title of the year.
Pick: Fritz in straight sets
