Djokovic crushes Berdcyh in lop-sided final
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic claimed his 5th China open title on Sunday by beating Tomas Berdcyh 6-0 6-2 in a completely one-sided final.
Djokovic, seeded number one, took just over an hour to seal the win against the Czech. Berdych raised his arms in celebration after winning his first game of the final in the second set to avoid the ignominy of a double bagel. 27-year-old Djokovic now has a win-loss record of 24-0 in the China Open.
Berdych, ranked sixth in the world, did manage to win back-to-back games in the second set, but it was not enough to prevent the Serb from posting an impressive victory.
A jubilant Djokovic said that he played one of his best finals ever. "This was probably the best performance in a final I ever had," Djokovic said after his thumping win.
Djokovic reached the final after defeating World No.11 Andy Murray, 6-3, 6-4, in straight sets. He went through the entire tournament without dropping a single set.
Djokovic, who was not part of the Serbian contingent that beat India in the Davis Cup in September, had also said earlier that he was looking forward to visiting India from 6th to 8th December to take part in the International Premier Tennis League.
