Djokovic into the final of the Shanghai Masters with an impeccable straight sets win over Murray
Novak Djokovic continued his terrifyingly good run of form as he romped home with a 6-1,6-3 win over Andy Murray in the semifinal of the ATP Shanghai Masters. Few who witnessed would’ve thought it was the world #1 against the world #2 as the Serb schooled the Scot in his straight sets win.
Djokovic’s didn’t need any warm up to build up steam as his dominance was evident from the first serve. He looked superlative as Murray struggled with double faults to win points. The first four games were taken by the flawless Djokovic before Murray managed to claim one. Murray’s smothered his first signs of life with more faults, and Djokovic claimed the first game 6-1 with unperturbed perfection.
Murray seemed like he would regroup in the second set, as he won the first game. But the faults which were the bane of his game came back to haunt him as Djoker claimed the first five games unchecked. Just when it seemed like Nole would wrest the game from Murray, the latter bounced back to win two games. But the character the Scot showed would be too little, too late as Djokovic sublimely clinched the lone point standing between him and the final.
The world #1 will play Jo-Wilfired Tsonga in the final of the tournament tomorrow. The Frenchman won his semifinal against Rafael Nadal with a gritty 6-4,6-0,7-5 performance.
