Documentary to be made on Novak Djokovic's life, World No. 1 to feature
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who will compete in the finals of the US Open tennis championships tonight to defend his title, is set to feature in a documentary miniseries about himself, entitled ‘Novak’, it has been announced.
The series, which is to air on Amazon Prime, provides viewers a look into Djokovic’s life, and will be produced by Hollywood actor and former tennis professional Boris Kodjoe.
‘Novak’ will give viewers access to both the personal and professional life of the Serbian ace, who this year completed his career Grand Slam with a win at the French Open – his first at that venue.
In a statement, the Serbian ace said “My fans have been suffering and celebrating with me from the very beginning of my career on the tennis courts." Notoriously rigorous about his fitness and diet, Djokovic has long spoken about and espoused a gluten-free lifestyle, which he credits with the significant upswing of form he saw in late 2012 – early 2013.
He is also known to be very strict with himself in terms of exercise, and this will find its way to the documentary series, according to the player himself.
“Now I want to share with them all my daily life and what’s important to me – my values, my beliefs, and my habits – and also introduce to them all the amazing people that are always next to me,” he said.
Growing up in war-torn Serbia, Djokovic has become committed to the issue of children’s rights and education, and works closely with UNICEF for the cause, having been made an ambassador with the organization.
The documentary will also follow the extensive charity work done by the top-ranked Serb, who runs the eponymous Novak Djokovic foundation for early-childhood rights and education, a cause he also works towards with UNICEF, for whom Djokovic is an ambassador.
