London, Nov 7 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Roger Federer broke another record in his sensational career, beating Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic in London to post the most wins at the World Tour finals.

It was his 40th victory at the season-ending championships, eclipsing Czech legend Ivan Lendl’s record of 39.

Reigning champion Federer secured an easy 6-3, 6-1 win to improve his head-to-head record to 6-0 against the Serb.

This is the second Tour Finals tournament for the Serbian, a replacement for the injured Rafael Nadal, who failed to get through the round robin last year.

Federer has won the most men’s singles Grand Slams in history with 17, and this year broke Pete Sampras’ record of 286 weeks as world No.1.
