Federer crashes out of US Open!

In a surprising twist to the US Open, Federer lost to Tomas Berdych in the Quarterfinals. While everyone was getting ready for a rematch of the Murray-Federer battle, continuing from the Wimbledon and the Olympics, Berdych had other ideas. Berdych, who had defeated Federer at the same stage 2 years ago in the Wimbledon, won the match 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to move to the semifinals and set up a possible date with Murray.

Throughout the match Federer looked like he couldn’t find his rhythm and lost the first set in a tie breaker. Berdych broke Federer’s serve in the second set. But in the 3rd set, he seemed to have been attacked by nerves as Federer looked to get back into the game with a 6-3 win. But Berdych held on and won the 4th set by the same margin to take his place in the semi finals.
