Spanish tennis player David Ferrer attained his 300th clay-court win on Tuesday defeating Czech Lukas Lacko 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 in just one hour and 22 minutes in the first round of the French Open.
Ferrer is the second on the list of most wins on clay amongst active players, only surpassed by compatriot Rafael Nadal, while with this win, Ferrer joined the list of 13 players who have ever celebrated 300 victories or more on clay, reports Efe.
Ferrer's win against Lacko is his 37th in Roland Garros, making him the second ranked Spaniard in total match wins at the French Open, just one victory behind Alex Corretja, and also one behind Tommy Robredo, who is also participating in this year's tournament.
The seventh seeded Spaniard suffered little against the 27-year-old Lacko, ranked 94th in the world, while the Czech player has not advanced past the first round in France since 2010, and has failed to beat any of the world's top 10 in 18 attempts.
Ferrer, runner-up in the 2013 French Open, is playing in the tournament for the 14th consecutive time, also his 50th Grand Slam tournament, a number surpassed only by active compatriot Feliciano Lopez, with 53 tournaments, and Swiss legend Roger Federer, holder of the all-time record with 62 Grand Slams.
