French Open 2023 men's singles winner odds: Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are the top picks to triumph in Paris
The 2023 French Open is set to commence soon. Based on how players have performed during the clay swing so far, a few favorites have emerged for the title. On the men's side, it's no surprise to see Carlos Alcaraz as the bookies' favorite, followed by 22-time Major champion Novak Djokovic.
Usually Rafael Nadal is the outright favorite to win the title, but he recently announced his withdrawal from the tournament. This marks the first time since 2004 that he won't be competing there.
As per betting side BetMGM, Alcaraz has favorable odds at +130, meaning a $100 wager on him will fetch $130 if he wins the tournament. He won titles in Barcelona and Madrid in the lead-up to the French Open, but suffered a shock defeat to Fabian Marozsan in the third round of the Italian Open.
Alcaraz was a quarterfinalist at last year's Roland Garros.
Djokovic's odds of winning the tournament, meanwhile, are at +200. His best result over the last few weeks has been a quarterfinal finish at the Italian Open. Despite some underwhelming results so far, the Serb still ranks high enough on the list given his stature.
With a record 23rd Major crown on the line, expect Djokovic to raise his level once he steps on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
With odds of +700 to emerge victorious, Holger Rune is the third favorite to go all the way in Paris. The 20-year-old won the BMW Open and was a runner-up at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Rune is currently in the semifinals of the Italian Open as well. With him having performed quite well throughout the clay season, it won't be surprising to see him win his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open.
Daniil Medvedev has relatively favorable odds to win the French Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas, the 2021 French Open finalist, has performed consistently over the last few weeks. BetMGM lists him as the fourth favorite to win the title, with odds of +800. Jannik Sinner is next on the list with +1100 odds to hoist the trophy.
Last year's finalist Casper Ruud has +1400 odds to capture his maiden Major title in Paris. After a string of poor results, he finally turned his season around at the Italian Open, where he's up against Rune in the semifinals on Saturday.
Daniil Medvedev has surprised everyone with his improved results on clay this year. He made it to the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo and the fourth round in Madrid. Currently a semifinalist at the Italian Open, he'll duke it out against Tsitsipas on Saturday for a spot in the championship round.
Medvedev struggled at the French Open for years, losing in the first round for four years since making his debut in 2017. He notched his first win in 2021 and made it all the way to the last eight as well. The Russian's journey concluded in the fourth round last year.
Based on his results so far, Medvedev has +1600 odds to win the title, making him the seventh favorite. Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev follow him with odds of +2000 and +2800, respectively.
