Iga Swiatek vs Marie Bouzkova preview
Top seed Iga Swiatek will take on Marie Bouzkova in the third round of the 2024 French Open.
Swiatek is a force to be reckoned with on the women's tour. She's chalked up 40 wins from 44 matches this season, including title-winning runs in Qatar, Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome. She also outclassed Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets in the Italian Open finals this month.
The 22-year-old started her campaign in Paris by cruising past Leolia Jeanjean 6-1, 6-2. She then registered an exceptional 7-6(1), 1-6, 7-5 win against Naomi Osaka in the second round. Swiatek is unbeaten in the last 14 matches on clay and is one of the favorites to lift the title in Paris.
Marie Bouzkova, meanwhile, has garnered 11 wins from 20 matches so far, including a runner-up finish in the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota. She also reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 ASB Classic, where she lost to Elina Svitolina in straight sets.
The Czech entered Paris on the back of a short stint in Strasbourg. She began her campaign with a convincing win against Veronika Kudermetova and then showed her class against Jana Fett in the second round. Bouzkova defeated the Croatian in one hour and 30 minutes, winning the match 6-2, 6-2.

Iga Swiatek vs Marie Bouzkova prediction
Iga Swiatek managed to get out of jail in the second round. Osaka squandered a 5-2 lead in the third set and missed a match point opportunity to eliminate the Pole. Swiatek was phenomenal as she stayed calm throughout the tie and eventually got the job done against the Japanese. She showcased her champions mentality and proved why she's clinched the title in Paris thrice since 2020.
Boukova, on the contrary, put up an impressive performance in Bogota and continued her rich vein of form in Paris. She's made light work of her opponents so far and looks determined to chalk up a valuable result in the French Open. The Czech saved three out of four break points and only committed 13 unforced errors in the previous round.
Ultimately, Bouzkova will need to figure out a way to counter Swiatek's all-around game. The player who begins well and keeps a check on their errors will have the upper hand in this bout. Considering their record in Paris and results at the highest level, Swiatek will be the clear favorite to come out on top.
Pick: Swiatek to win in straight sets.
