Madison Keys vs Renata Zarazua preview
Recent title-winner Madison Keys will begin her 2024 French Open campaign with a first-round encounter with Renata Zarazua on Tuesday.
Keys, the 14th seed at this year’s tournament, comes into the claycourt Slam with a modest 14-5 win-loss record this season. She has, however, peaked just in time for the French Open, having won the title in Strasbourg and made the semifinal and quarterfinal in Madrid and Rome respectively.
The American will look to carry her momentum further and stage a deep run in Paris.
Zarazua, meanwhile, comes into the tournament with a 14-14 win-loss and has no main draw wins on clay to show for this year. The Mexican, however, did win a few good matches in her last appearance, in Parma, making the semifinals with victories over the likes of Peyton Stearns and Ajla Tomjlanovic.
She also has happy memories from Paris, where she scored her only Grand Slam main draw win in 2020.

Madison Keys vs Renata Zarazua prediction
Clay has not been the happiest hunting ground for Madison Keys, whose power-packed game is better suited for the quicker surfaces.
This year, however, she has put together an impressive 11-2 win-loss on the red clay. That includes a title in Strasbourg. She has shown her ability to outhit opponents on the surface, but will also need to play the patient game.
The American is prone to going off-kilter on occasion, but her recent form should give her confidence. If she can continue to play with measured aggression, she should be able to hit past her opponent.
Renata Zarazua’s strength lies in her movement and defensive prowess. She will do her best to prolong rallies and frustrate Keys into overpressing.
Prediction: Keys to win in straight sets
