Alexander Zverev vs Christopher Eubanks preview
Third-seed Alexander Zverev will take on Christopher Eubanks in the second round of the Geneva Open 2023 on Wednesday.
Zverev has a win-loss record of 14-13 in 2023. While he reached the semifinal of the Dubai Tennis Championships, the German has failed to put on an impressive run in any other tournament. His sub-par showing on the court has resulted in him slumping to 27th in the ATP rankings, losing his status as the German No. 1 to Jan-Lennard Struff.
In his last tournament, the Italian Open, the 26-year-old lost to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round 6-2, 7-6 (3). In his other three clay court tournaments, Zverev failed to make his mark and did not go past the fourth round in any of them.
Meanwhile, Christopher Eubanks is enjoying his best year on the ATP Tour. The American entered the top 100 ranking for the first time after reaching the quarterfinals of the Miami Open as a qualifier, his best performance in 2023. Currently ranked 75th in the ATP rankings, Eubanks has won seven of his 13 matches on the ATP Tour this year.
Since his fairytale run in Miami, Eubanks has been playing on the ATP Challenger circuit. His last tournament was the Busan Challenger, where he lost 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals to Alexander Vukic.
The 27-year-old was given a direct into the Geneva Open main draw and faced Benoit Paire in the first round. While the two men played a close first set, Eubanks closed it out in a tiebreaker 7-6 (2). The American had an easier time in the second set, winning it 6-3.
Alexander Zverev vs Christopher Eubanks head-to-head

Alexander Zverev vs Christopher Eubanks prediction
Zverev is an outstanding player on clay and will be hoping to stitch together a few good results ahead of the 2023 Roland Garros, where he will be defending more than half of his 1360 ranking points.
Although he has been outplayed by superior-ranked played this year, he has won games against top players like Lorenzo Sonego and Jiri Lehecka at the Dubai Tennis Championships and JJ Wolf at the Italian Open.
Eubanks, meanwhile, will feel that he has a slight upper hand in the match-up, having already played a fixture in Geneva. He will try his best to go toe-to-toe with Zverev in intense baseline rallies. However, overcoming a former World No. 2 on a surface where he has three Masters 1000 titles might be a task too daunting for the American.
Pick: Zverev to win in straight sets.
