Jannik Sinner vs Tallon Griekspoor preview
Top seed Jannik Sinner of Italy will take on Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in the first round of the Halle Open on Tuesday, June 18. Sinner started the season in a great manner, winning the Australian Open, Rotterdam Open, and Miami Open titles.
However, the 22-year-old Italian, who is most comfortable playing on hard courts, failed to win a title on clay this year. He lost in the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters and French Open to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively, both of whom went on to win the title eventually.
Griekspoor, on the other hand, started the grass-court season reasonably well, reaching the semifinal of the 's-Hertogenbosch on his home soil and losing to Sebastian Korda. Before that, he had a decent clay-court season, reaching the fourth round of the Madrid Open and the third round of the French Open.
His defeat in the third round of Roland Garros against Alexander Zverev was one of the matches of the tournament. However, Griekspoor is probably most comfortable playing on grass and will fancy his chances of causing an upset against Sinner on Tuesday.
Jannik Sinner vs Tallon Griekspoor head-to-head
Sinner leads their head-to-head 4-0 at the moment, having won all their previous four clashes. However, the two have not met on grass yet and each of the Italian's wins came on outdoor or indoor hard courts.

Jannik Sinner vs Tallon Griekspoor prediction
As mentioned already, Sinner is most comfortable playing on hard courts, but Griekspoor rates grass as his favorite surface. He beat Hubert Hurkacz, a very accomplished grass-court player, in Halle last year. The 27-year-old Dutchman's powerful serve will be a weapon on grass and Sinner should be wary of it.
However, the Italian has a very well-rounded game and can hit well off either wing, aside from possessing a powerful serve himself. Griekspoor will probably try to shorten the rallies on a quick surface. However, if he fails to do so frequently enough, Sinner will have the upper hand. Overall, the Italian should have too much quality to go through to the second round.
Pick: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets
