Holger Rune vs Arthur Fils preview
Second seed Holger Rune will take on Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals of the Hamburg European Open.
Rune secured a 6-4, 6-4 win over Fabian Marozsan to move into the second round, where qualifier Marco Trungelliti awaited him. The Dane went down a break to trail 2-1 in the first set but broke back immediately to even the score.
The two remained steady on serve over the next few games, until Rune made his move towards the end. With Trungelliti serving to stay in the set at 5-4, the 21-year-old broke his serve to take the set.
An early break of serve saw Rune race ahead 3-0 in the second set. He kept Trungelliti at bay for the rest of the match to score a 6-4, 6-3 win and reach his seventh quarterfinal of the season.
Fils staged a comeback to beat Jaume Munar 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in his opener, and was up against Laslo Djere in the second round. The Frenchman led by a break in the first set but gave up his advantage almost immediately. He even held a set point on his opponent's serve at 6-5, and failed to capitalize on it as well.
Fils finally job done in the ensuing tie-break to claim the set. He played much better in the second set and broke Djere's twice to seal a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win and advance to his sixth quarterfinal of the year.
Holger Rune vs Arthur Fils head-to-head

Holger Rune vs Arthur Fils prediction
Rune overcame an early blip to move past Trungelliti. He won 73 percent of his first serve points and fired eight aces, and hasn't dropped a set this week. After a tight first set went Fils' way, he played more freely to down Djere.
The Frenchman struck 26 winners against 17 unforced errors, and won 76 percent of points on the back of his first serve. He's aiming to reach his first semifinal since the start of the season, and is 1-4 in quarterfinal matches this year.
Rune made light work of Fils the last and the only time they crossed paths in Rome last year. The Dane lost 15 points on serve during the match, and punished his opponent's weak second serve.
Fils is 4-10 against top 20 players in his career, though he's got a 2-2 record against them on clay. He's quite confident of his skils on clay but so is Rune, who looks to be in great form this week, and will be favored to advance further.
Pick: Holger Rune to win in straight sets.
