"I don't think we should be talking about that"- When Grigor Dimitrov denied comment on feud between then-girlfriend Maria Sharapova & Serena Williams
Grigor Dimitrov once declined to comment on his ex-girlfriend Maria Sharapova's feud with Serena Williams. Interestingly, Dimitrov shares a strong bond with Williams to this day and often enjoys her support during his matches.
Back in the day, Sharapova and Dimitrov were one of tennis' power couples. They made their relationship public during the 2013 Madrid Open. However, their romance didn't last, and they broke up in July 2015.
During the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, after Dimitrov's second-round loss to Grega Zemlja, he was asked about Williams' controversial remarks about Sharapova. The American had seemingly referenced the Bulgarian when she criticized Sharapova, stating that if the Russian wanted to date someone with a "black heart," she was free to do so.
"You guys tell me what kind of heart I have. I don't think we should talk about that," Grigor Dimitrov told the media.
"I am here to talk about the slippery courts, how many injuries we had, pull-outs. I don't think we should be talking about that. I think that's in the past and that's getting old," he added.
