Myneni achieved his career best ranking in singles, 137, this year after qualifying for the main draw of the US Open. He is now set to lead the Indian contingent against Spain in the Davis Cup tie.
The following day, Indian captain Anand Amritraj dropped a hint that Leander Paes could be gearing up with Myneni as his partner for the upcoming doubles rubber event in the World Group Davis Cup play-off fixture.
Reportedly, Amritraj also feels the duo can snatch a point from Spain and that they have a “good chance”. However, Spain is yet to finalise the pairing to face India, who are also undecided till now. The captains of both teams are believed to be looking forward to the opening day proceedings before finalizing the doubles pairings that will face each other.
