Martin Klizan claims victory at ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam

Unseeded Slovakian Martin Klizan won the 43rd edition of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament.

The 26-year-old, ranked 43rd in the world, beat 29-year-old Frenchman Gael Monfils, ranked 18th in the world, in three sets in the final of the indoor hardcourt event on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

After losing the first set in a tiebreak, Klizan bounced back from 3-3 in the second set to outclass his opponent 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-1.

Klizan became the first Slovakian winner of the Rotterdam tournament. He captured his fourth Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament victory after his wins in St. Petersburg (2012), Munich (2014) and Casablanca (2015).

In the semi-finals, Klizan beat French qualifier Nicolas Mahut 6-7 (3), 7-6(7), 6-2, while 5th seeded Monfils defeated German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-2.
