Andy Murray, the British number one has been seeded third in the London Games, 2012. He has a higher seeding in a major tennis event for the first time in the absence of the injured Rafael Nadal. Murray will be hoping to entertain the spectators of All England Club courts just a few weeks after his defeat to Roger Federer in the Grand Slam final.

The 25-year-old Scot has featured in four Grand Slam singles finals but has faltered all the four times; the latest has been the Wimbledon, 2012 which he lost to Roger Federer. Murray lost three of the four Grand Slam finals to Federer and so would be raring to avenge his defeat if these two tennis stars come face-to-face again in the Olympics.

Murray was in tears after losing the Wimbledon final to Federer this year and so has a different mindset altogether for the London Games. The country’s expectations are back on Murray again, this time for the Olympics. Having seeded third in this mega event, Murray would be confident of bagging at least an Olympic bronze. But he has his sight on the gold and nothing else, and also said that he is feeling very positive ahead of the event.

The first few days were very tough for Andy after losing the Wimbledon final which is why he took a few days off to spend time with his friends before beginning preparation for the London Olympics. Though Murray has not played a single match after the Wimbledon, he said that getting back on the court for practice has helped him a lot as he needed to get over his disappointment quickly.

Andy Murray lost in the first round of 2008 Beijing Olympics to Yen-Hsun Lu, but times have changed. Murray has evolved as the No. 1 British tennis player and has been consistently holding on to the top 5 rankings for a long time. Andy would be featuring in the singles as well as in the doubles event in the London Olympics. His own brother, Jamie Murray would be partnering Andy in the doubles, so Andy has two gold medals in sight. The Murray family would be hoping both the brothers bring back gold from the event.

Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski have tried hard but always failed to deliver and win a tennis Olympic medal for their country. So all of Britain would be hoping Andy Murray brings glory to their country by winning the first tennis Olympic medal. Andy is determined to put the disappointments behind him in the next fortnight.

Now it is up to Andy Murray to fulfill his nation’s dream and also win the most prized and coveted medal that every sports star dreams of.
