Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies to organize premier camp in Guwahati

Guwahati, 28th January 2014: Post the success of their multiple academies and tennis camps across the country, the management team of the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies (MBTA) today announced a six day camp, starting 1 February 2014, at the Miles Bronson Residential School, Guwahati. Through this tennis camp, MBTA will strive to provide top quality coaching to the students at the institution, helping them realize their potential and provide them a better insight into the technicalities of the sport.

While attending two sessions of two hours each, each day, alongside an hour of tennis related fitness exercises, the 60 participating children will be coached by Mr K Shankar, Director of Coaching Operations and Coaches Education Program at MBTA, who boasts of coaching top ranked junior players for over 15 years and a Level 2 Coaching Certification by the International Tennis Federation. Mr. Shankar will be working with the children on their technique, fitness and take them through the finer aspects of the game, such as strategy, match tactics, match temperament, amongst other such details.

With the camp at the Miles Bronson Residential School in Guwahati, MBTA will mark their first venture in the North East. Expressing his delight at the occasion, Arjuna Awardee and double Asian Games Gold Medallist, CEO of MBTA, Gaurav Natekar said”This camp is a great opportunity to spread the sport deeper into the country. We have been planning this camp for a while and are glad that it has finally materialized. We look forward to building a strong base for the sport within the school and the region. With the right guidance I am sure we will unearth a lot of potential amongst the children here and hopefully this is the first step to a long term association.”

Delighted at the prospect of hosing the MBTA’s first-ever camp in the North East, Principal Dr. Nripen Dutta said: “At Miles Bronson Residential School we believe in providing our students an environment which is holistic in its approach and helps them realize their potential. Through this camp, we are confident that our students will benefit from the top-class, professional tennis coaching and go on to represent the nation in future.”

MBTA was founded in 2006, by 12-time Grand Slam winner Mahesh Bhupathi and was conceptualized with the objective of imparting professional, world-class training (both practical and theoretical) and highly specialized coaching to youngsters of all age groups. MBTA was also developed to increase the accessibility of tennis by ensuring that people across all socio-economic groups have the opportunity to experience the joy of the sport. Over the years, MBTA has established itself as India’s premier tennis academy imparting international quality coaching through a team of 90 professionally trained coaches to over 10,000 children across various levels.
