Martina Navratilova slammed by Indian Twitter users on JNU issue

Martina Navratilova had the perfect reply for many Twitter users

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova was engaged in a Twitter battle with many Indian users of the social media network recently. The problem started with Navratilova, a multiple Grand Slam winner tweeting an article from the New York Times on the JNU issue that has gripped the nation.

Fans on social media did not take to this too lightly and tweeted back to the tennis player showing their discontent on an 'outsider' sharing such news pieces. The article in question was written by an Indian columnist Nilanjana Roy.

Navratilova first tweeted the following, related to the JNU:

Tweeters were not happy with the fact that a foreign player was sharing her views on India's problems. The first set of tweets were addressing the fact that Navratilova should mind her own business and only worry about the issues in her country.

There were even a few tweets which targeted her ancestry.

While some users even brought up large-scale terrorism into the discussion.

And when she was repeatedly targeted, she did have one good reply, similar to her playing days.

It was not all bad for Navratilova, though, she did get some support but certainly this issue would have left her bruised. Credit to the tennis ace for keeping her cool, unlike some of the people who tweeted to her.
