Milos Raonic plays an insane backhand volley against Stan Wawrinka in Rotterdam
Stanislas Wawrinka has one of the best backhands in the business and is extremely tough to return it when the Swiss is in top form. Kei Nishikori found it the hard way in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open when Wawrinka’s backhand passing shots were working like magic.
Wawrinka took the opening set in a tight tie-breaker against Milos Raonic in the semifinal clash at the ABN Amro World Tennis tournament in Rotterdam. The second set was heading the same way with the Canadian serving at 5-6. The Swiss No.2 was dictating the point from the baseline putting Raonic on the backfoot. The No. 2 seed came to the net after a blistering forehand and returned the next volley to Wawrinka’s strength – his bakhand.
The 2014 Australian Open champion looked to pounce on the opportunity as he unleashed a blistering backhand pass. Raonic relied on his reflexes to win the point with a fine volley near the net.
