Mirza –Huber through to round two in Wimbledon
India’s Sania Mirza and Liezel Huber moved to the second round at Wimbledon with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 win over the Czech pair of RenataVoracova and Klara Zakopalova in an hour and 27 minutes.
The Indo-American pair started the match on a good note breaking the Czech pair early. They maintained their lead to wrap up the first set in 28 minutes. The second set was a topsy-turvy one as both opponents had problems holding their serves. The Czech pair held their nerve to break thrice as compared to twice by the sixth seeds and level the match at one set apiece.
However, the experienced Indo-American pair literally steam rolled their opponents in the decider racing to a 5-0 lead. Despite a consolation game for the Czech pair, the writing was on the wall as the higher-seeded duo wrapped up the set 6-1 to move to the next round.
Mirza-Huber will now face the winner of the match between Andrea Petkovic-Flavia Pennetta and the all British pair of Samantha Murray and Jade Windley in round two.
