Borna Ćorić vs Jannik Sinner Preview
Two players who have had contrasting fortunes this season, Borna Ćorić and Jannik Sinner, will lock horns in the opening round of the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters.
After spending a year on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury that led to his ranking crashing out of the top 150, Coric returned to action at Indian Wells.
His return to the tour didn't go as planned as he suffered a three-set loss to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his Indian Wells opener. The Croat registered his first win of the season at Miami, fending off a spirited Fernando Verdasco to reach the last 64.
Meanwhile, Italian prodigy Jannik Sinner has had a decent year to date. He made the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, Miami and Dubai. While he was beaten by Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets in Dubai, he had to retire hurt just five games into his match against Francisco Cerundolo in Miami due to blisters on his foot.
Earlier in Indian Wells, the Italian had to concede a walkover to Nick Kyrgios due to illness as well.

Borna Ćorić vs Jannik Sinner Prediction
Coric and Sinner enter this clash in contrasting form. While the Italian has posted strong results in almost every tournament he's played, Coric is still finding his feet on his return to the tour. While Sinner is an aggressive player who is strong off of both wings, his serve remains a liability and more so on clay.
Coric is an excellent returner who will capitalize on slower and weaker serves. His consistent game style and patient shotmaking could trouble the Italian, who often dictates play to reach the finish line.
The Croat lacks matches under his belt and if Sinner comes into the match firing on all cylinders, it'll be tough for Coric to make a meaningful dent in the scoreline. However, his form in the last two matches has been at a high level and he'll likely trouble Sinner, especially on serve.
Prediction: Sinner to win in three sets.
