Casper Ruud vs Benjamin Bonzi preview
Second seed Casper Ruud will take on Benjamin Bonzi in the second round of the Moselle Open.
After a third-round exit in Melbourne, Ruud secured runner-up finishes in Los Cabos, Acapulco and Monte-Carlo. He captured his first title of the season in Barcelona and reached the semifinals in Paris, where he missed out against Alexander Zverev in four sets.
The Norwegian will enter Metz on the back of a second-round exit in the Paris Masters. Despite a spirited effort against Jordan Thompson, the Australian defeated him in a gripping encounter, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4. Ruud will be eager to make amends in Metz and snap his three-match losing streak on tour.
Benjamin Bonzi, meanwhile, has played most of his tennis on the ATP Challenger circuit this year. He entered the main draw in Melbourne, Auckland, Marseille, and Bucharest, but couldn't get past the first round.
The Frenchman finally chalked up his first win on the main tour in Metz this week. He entered the Moselle Open via the qualifiers and outfoxed Roberto Bautista Agut in his opening bout, in straight sets, 7-6(3), 6-3.

Casper Ruud vs Benjamin Bonzi prediction
Casper Ruud has been out of form since a quarterfinal exit in the Paris Olympics. He's garnered only five wins from his last 13 matches on tour and will be hoping to turn things around in the Moselle Open. The Norwegian has a solid all-around game and great movement on the court.
Bonzi, on the contrary, has amassed title-winning runs in the Roanne, Winnipeg and the St. Brieuc Challenger this year. He's been working towards emulating the same form on the tour but hasn't achieved too much success so far. The Frenchman will need to raise his level even further to make a notable impact at the highest level.
Ruud has been going through a rough patch but will still be a favorite to come out on top. The Norwegian has a 63% success ratio on hard courts in 2024 and should be able to tackle past Bonzi in the second round.
Pick: Ruud to win in three sets.
