Murray itching to make return from injury

World number one Andy Murray

Andy Murray is moving closer to a return to the ATP World Tour after confirming he is making good progress from his recent elbow injury.

The world number one missed the recent Miami Open due to a tear in his elbow and was also absent as Great Britain were eliminated from the Davis Cup by France this weekend.

He looks set to be back on court soon, though, after posting a positive message on his Instagram account on Sunday.

"Had a great time training in Nice," he posted. "Recovering from my elbow injury slowly and trying to be patient.

"Hopefully I'll be back on the match court soon! Thanks for all the messages of support."

Murray will hope to be fit in time for the Monte-Carlo Masters in mid-April as the clay-court season gets into full swing ahead of next month's French Open.

Last year Murray reached the semi-finals in Monte Carlo before making the Madrid Open final and winning the Italian Open. He was then the beaten finalist at Roland Garros.
