"My heartbreaking loss to Jordan" - Taylor Fritz's son makes rare appearance; father-son duo delightedly indulge in in-house basketball
Taylor Fritz recently shared glimpses of his basketball game with son Jordan. The American also revealed that he suffered a “heartbreaking” loss to the seven-year-old.
Fritz is making the most of his off-court days in Los Angeles ahead of his 2024 Paris Masters return. The soon-to-be 27-year-old was last in action at the Shanghai Masters, where he was edged out by Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Since returning to the US, Taylor Fritz has attended Norwegian DJ Kygo’s show at the Hollywood Bowl. He also broke the internet by debuting his new blond-hair look.
On Thursday, October 24, Fritz shared that he spent some quality time playing basketball with his son Jordan, whom he shares with his ex-wife Raquel. The World No. 6 also praised the indoor setup, noting that although it took him two hours to assemble, it was “worth it.”
"Shout out to this company I randomly found online… Jordan and I always play basketball inside and I felt like he was getting too big to play on those small indoor wall hoops, took me about 2 hours to build this thing but was so worth it," Taylor Fritz wrote on his Instagram story.
He added that the father-son duo playfully tussled for over an hour. As it turned out, the tennis player was no match for his son’s basketball prowess, losing the contest 21-19.
"I ended up getting so into it I forgot I was recording and ended up with over an hour of us playing. But for the sake of time, I will just post this clip of the final score in my heartbreaking 21-19 loss to Jordan," Fritz joked.

Before his relationship with girlfriend Morgan Riddle, Taylor Fritz was married to fellow tennis player Raquel Pedraza from 2016 to 2019. The young couple welcomed their son Jordan in 2017 when Fritz was 19 years old.
In a 2022 interview for Resident magazine, Fritz opened up about fatherhood, indicating that it has been a gratifying experience.
"Honestly, one of the best things about being a dad is just seeing my son mirror some of the best parts of who I am," Fritz said at the time.
"He is not a carbon copy, and he is already definitely his own person. Watching him mature, navigate the world, and find joy in life is one of the best parts," he added.
Fritz also hinted that he and his son have a shared liking for sports.
"He is a remarkable kid and every day he seems to learn something new. He has gotten so much better at tennis and soccer and, of course, that is great," Fritz continued.
"The best part is just spending time with him. I love him and care so much about him. I might be slightly biased, but he is just so damn cool!"
Fritz will soon shift his focus to tennis as he gears up for the 2024 Paris Masters (October 28–November 3). The American, who recently finished as the runner-up at the US Open, is in pursuit of his ninth career title and second at the Masters 1000 level.
