Nadal, Djokovic fight for top ranking

In Early October, the king of clay Rafael Nadal deposed Novak Djokovic as World Number one. Then all of us thought that the race to year end top rank was all over. But at the same time in October, we saw Djokovic bring some fantastic form, as he collected his fourth Beijing title beating Nadal in the final in straight sets. He also collected his second Shanghai Rolex Masters title, extending his winning streak to 15-0 over current hard court tour. So I will say the race to top is not over yet.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic

Currently, Nadal lead table with 11,670 ranking points only 550 points more than Djokovic. Now if Novak is to able defeat Rafael at Paris Masters 1,000 event, Novak will gain 1,000 ranking points as to 600 points by Rafael. It will cut back advantage of Nadal to only 150 points, which makes this battle more interesting.

This battle will continue at ATP tour finals, in O2 Arena London. The ATP World Tour Finals are the season-ending championships featuring the top eight singles players. In this tournament a champion can collect up to 1500 points. This makes the most important tournament for both them.

Novak is currently the reigning champion of the tournament. Recently Nadal has been showing signs of wear and tear in recent weeks. Also with current superb form on the hard court Djokovic is all but assured winner at ATP Tour finals.

So currently Djokovic seems to be driving seat to finish the race first but we never know when Nadal swoops in and finishes the race on his term.
