7 tennis couples entered Wimbledon 2024, only 1 survive into 2nd week ft. Stefanos Tsitsipas & Paula Badosa not making it

Out of the seven tennis couples that started together at Wimbledon 2024, only one pair has managed to make it into the second week of the Grand Slam together, unlike Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa. While Badosa has reached the fourth round, her partner fell in the second round, losing in surprise fashion to Emil Ruusuvuori in a four-setter.

Aussie No. 1 Alex de Minaur and British No. 1 Katie Boulter have not made it either. While De Minaur has progressed to the second week, Boulter fell in the second round to fellow Brit Harriet Dart in a three-set epic.

The pair of Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina have also faced a similar fate. Although the Ukrainian has entered the fourth round at SW19, her husband lost in the third round, going out to Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.

The pair of Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac were also in action. Siniakova lost her singles second-round battle against Yulia Putintseva, while Machac exited to Roman Safiullin at the same stage. Interestingly, both are still left in the doubles draw.

Siniakova has partnered with Taylor Townsend and will take on Leylah Fernandez and Ena Shibahara in the second round. Machac, on the other hand, is playing with Zhang Zhizhen, and will face off against the Andres Molteni-Maximo Gonzalez duo next. The pair of Liam Broady and Eden Silva as well as Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko went out in the very first round.

That leaves out World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Anna Kaliskaya, who remain the last pair standing at Wimbledon. The World No. 1 took out Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round, and is set for a Ben Shelton showdown in the fourth round.

Kalinskaya, meanwhile, defeated 15th seed Liudmila Samsonova in the third round, and is scheduled to square off against former champion Elena Rybakina next. Sinner even made it to the stands to support his girlfriend, cheering her on to victory against Samsonova on Saturday.

By reaching the fourth round at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Paula Badosa has matched her best run at SW19. The Spaniard had previously reached the second week in the 2021 and 2022 editions.

On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas fell short of his best run after his second-round exit. The Greek's best finish is also a run to the fourth round, having done so in 2018 and 2023.
