"A German player in the main draw" - Ben Shelton hilariously hints at 'culprit' responsible for bad car parking at hotel during Cincinnati Open
Ben Shelton hilariously hinted that he knew who was responsible for the poorly parked cars at the hotel at the Cincinnati Open. Last year, Shelton made it to the second round in Cincinnati before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
This year, Shelton is the 12th seed at the ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt tournament. He kicked off his campaign with a 7-6(3), 7-6(3) victory over fellow American Reilly Opelka, who received a wild card entry into the main draw.
Following his win against Opelka, while speaking to Tennis Channel, Ben Shelton was asked about the parking situation at the hotel where players were staying.
Shelton, who had previously called out a player for parking a Cadillac Escalade, provided to the players by the tournament, outside the parking lines in the garage of the hotel, said that he knew who the player was who had parked so horrendously.
The World No. 14 expressed his disappointment in the player's parking skills, calling it a "disgrace." He said that the player should have been able to park properly given the advanced technology in cars today.
“Yes! I mean it’s a disgrace. If they give everyone here a Cadillac Escalade, I think it’s a responsibility right. It’s a responsibility . I know it’s a big truck but you can at least check the parking you know you got the 360 view now. These are advanced cars,” Shelton said.
Ben Shelton also hinted as to who the player in question was. He revealed that the player was German and part of the main draw and someone who is yet to play a match at the Cincinnati Open.
“So I’m not going to expose who it is ‘cause it’s a nice person. But it’s a German player, they are in the main draw and I don’t believe they played yet. I'll let you guys guess ,” he added.
