"Absolutely cooked" - Taylor Fritz shares his hilariously contrasting state from Frances Tiafoe as duo land in Berlin for Laver Cup

Compatriots Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe arrived in Berlin as part of a six-member Team World at the 2024 Laver Cup. The event will take place from Friday, September 20-22.

This will be Fritz's fourth appearance at the Laver Cup. The World No. 7 has previously participated in the event in 2019 (Geneva), 2022 (London) and 2023 (Vancouver). Frances Tiafoe will be forming a part of Team World for the fifth time, having competed in 2017 (Prague), 2018 (Chicago), 2022 and 2023.

Fritz took to Instagram to share a video of the Americans arriving in the German capital. The picture showed the hilarious contrast between an enthusiastic Fritz and a tired Tiafoe, who looked sleepy after a long flight.

"Jet lag different. Absolutely cooked @bigfoe1998," Fritz lightheartedly captioned the picture.

Both players can be seen sporting Team World's red jerseys in the picture. The time stamp showed that it was six in the evening, highlighting Tiafoe's jet lag.

Team World will be eyeing their third consecutive win at the 2024 Laver Cup. This will be the seventh edition of the annual event that began in 2017 (it did not take place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

The teams comprise of six members. While Team Europe is headed by captain Bjorn Borg, Team World is headed by John McEnroe. Three spots are typically filled by players as per their ATP ranking and three by captain's pick.

This will be the last year that McEnroe will be heading Team World. The former World No. 1 expressed his sentiments on passing the mantle to Andre Agassi next year.

“The Laver Cup is very special to me, a truly incredible competition that I love being a part of. I will be rooting for him and Team World and will support him however I can,” John McEnroe said as per tennis.com.

Bidding McEnroe goodbye as captain will be Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Francis Cerundolo, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Alejandro Tabilo who form this year's Team World. They will clash with Team Europe comprising Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Flavio Cobolli and Jason Struff have been named as alternates for Team Europe. Notably absent from this year's Laver Cup are Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, who retired at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
