Alex de Minaur and girlfriend Katie Boulter's "secret" is out: Couple make surprise engagement announcement days after speculation
Alex de Minaur and his longtime girlfriend, Katie Boulter, are now engaged. The couple uncovered their “small secret” on December 23.
De Minaur and Boulter, a British tennis player with a career-high ranking of World No. 23, have been dating since March 2020. The tennis power couple often shows their love and support by cheering on their partner from the stands.
A week ago, on December 16, Katie Boulter shared a cryptic post on her Instagram account, gushing about her day in Alicante, Spain. The 28-year-old was all smiles as she sat along the seashore with a lovely backdrop of the sunset.
"Today was a good day," Katie Boulter wrote, without commenting further.
Alex de Minaur dropped a comment teasing his partner over her “good day” verdict.
"Was it now??!!" he wrote.
Speculation was rife about the couple’s possible engagement when the World No. 9 deleted his comment. Boulter’s close friends and family, meanwhile, shared joyous responses to her post, without divulging any details.
On Monday, de Minaur and Boulter shared the special news with their fans and followers on social media, with a picture by the beachside. The Brit was seen sporting the same outfit, albeit with a stunning diamond ring this time.
"We’ve been keeping a small secret," the tennis couple wrote.
Alex de Minaur joins a host of other tennis players, including Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, and Alexei Popyrin, who have announced their engagements during the off-season.
Alex de Minaur and fiancée Katie Boulter to begin 2025 campaigns at United Cup
Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter are gearing up for their 2025 campaigns. The couple, who spent the last few days of their off season in Alicante, have already arrived in Australia for the upcoming United Cup, where they’ll represent their respective countries alongside their compatriots.
Both players recently shared an update about their joint travel, with de Minaur making a tongue-in-cheek comment about his new fiancée not giving him any space.
"When you think you finally gonna get some space," the Aussie quipped, sharing a clip of Boulter sitting beside him on the airplane. "Aus here we come."
Meanwhile, Katie Boulter seemingly issued a challenge to her partner’s team ahead of Great Britain and Australia’s anticipated United Cup group stage clash.
"Coming for you Australia," she wrote, sharing a selfie with de Minaur.
Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter scripted their most successful campaigns yet in 2024, with both reaching their career-high rankings of No. 6 and No. 23, respectively, and clinching two titles each.
Interestingly, they lifted both their trophies simultaneously. The former defended his ATP 500 title in Acapulco in February, with Boulter winning her maiden WTA 500 title just hours later in San Diego.
Meanwhile, on June 16, de Minaur won the Libema Open, while his partner defended her title at the Nottingham Open.
