"Alexander Zverev has some demons to address" - Thanasi Kokkinakis hilariously trolls German about his Berlin club recommendations during Laver Cup

Thanasi Kokkinakis and Alexander Zverev were on the opposite sides of the net during the Laver Cup, representing Team World and Team Europe respectively, but that did not stop them from sharing some off-court banter. And that included club recommendations.

The Laver Cup was being hosted in Berlin and consequently, the German was expected to be an expert on dining, sightseeing, and club recommendations.

Zverev’s picks, however, were not for everyone, as per Kokkinakis. Speaking to media during a press conference, the Aussie said while he had sought suggestions from Zverev, he opted against visiting the club after a quick Google search.

The Aussie, without naming the club, said the place was “something else” before joking that Zverev likely had some “demons” to address given his recommendations. Thanasi Kokkinakis said:

“After looking it up on Google, I hope not. That place was something else. I don't know. I think Sascha has some demons he's got to address."
“That was crazy. I'm not repeating the place he told us to go. If I see him there, I will know big fella's in some strife and might have a few weeks off,” he added.

Team Europe bested Team World to take home the 2024 Laver Cup after consecutive losses in the past two editions.

Alexander Zverev was later asked in a press interaction about Thanasi Kokkinakis’ remarks on his club recommendations. The German responded that he had never been out partying in Berlin. Zverev said:

“I never went out clubbing in Berlin or out partying in Berlin. Tonight maybe will [be] the first time we're going to go somewhere."

He added the team had a few things planned to celebrate their Laver Cup win but stopped short of sharing any details, saying he didn't want to run into photographers at 2 am outside the club.

"But I think we have a few things organized, which I'm not going to tell the press so there is photographers and you guys there to write how messed up we are at 2 am,” he said.

Team Europe was trailing coming into the final day of the Laver Cup but Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz helped them turn the tables on their opponents to lift the title.

While the German came back from a set down to take out Frances Tiafoe 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-5, Alcaraz was in top form during his straight sets win over Taylor Fritz as he came through 6-2, 7-5. Team Europe eventually prevailed 13-11.
