Alexander Zverev's girlfriend Sophia Thomalla cheers German on from the sidelines at Laver Cup 2024

Alexander Zverev's girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla, recently shared a photo from his 2024 Laver Cup doubles match. Representing Team Europe, Zverev teamed with Carlos Alcaraz to face Team World's Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton on September 20.

Despite their efforts, Zverev and Alcaraz couldn't secure a victory against Fritz and Shelton. Although the American duo faced stiff competition in the first set, they managed to win it 7-6(5). Furthermore, the second set proved more challenging for Team Europe, as they fell 6-4 to lose the match.

Fritz and Shelton's 20 winners, including eight aces, proved instrumental in their 95-minute triumph. Their victory also leveled the score at 2-2 against Bjorn Borg's Team Europe in the event taking place in Berlin. Team Europe has won the Laver Cup four times, while Team World has won twice.

Alexander Zverev's girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla, watched her boyfriend live from the sidelines and shared a picture from his Laver Cup doubles match on her Instagram story. Zverev could be seen focused, anticipating a shot, while his partner Carlos Alcaraz played a backhand.

Thomalla, a renowned German model and actress, has been with Zverev since 2020 and has worked in the industry since she was 18. The 34-year-old often shows her support for the World No. 2 and is occasionally seen in the stands during his matches.

Alexander Zverev had an impressive European clay court swing, with his standout performance at the Italian Open. The German defeated the likes of Aleksandar Vukic, Luciano Darderi, Nuno Borges, and Taylor Fritz to reach the semifinals.

The semifinal clash against Alejandro Tabilo proved utterly challenging for Zverev, with the Chilean taking the first set 6-1. However, the World No. 2 made a strong comeback, winning the next two sets 7-6(4), 6-2 to secure his place in the final. Zverev ultimately triumphed over Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 7-5, capturing his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title and his first Masters 1000 title since the 2021 Cincinnati Open.

Sophia Thomalla later celebrated Alexander Zverev's Italian Open triumph in her Instagram story, sharing a poster of his victory and adding a heart emoji.

Alexander Zverev also showed promise at the 2024 French Open, reaching the final. However, he fell to the eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in a grueling five-set match at Court Philippe Chatrier.
