The 27-year-old then defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-3 to reach the semifinals. He faced his toughest test against Alejandro Tabilo, edging past the Chilean 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-2.
Alexander Zverev triumphed over Nicolas Jarry in the final, securing a 6-4, 7-5 victory in an hour and 41 minutes to clicj his first Masters 1000 title since the 2021 Cincinnati Open. Furthermore, the German moved up a spot in the ATP rankings, replacing Daniil Medvedev as the World No. 4.

Alexander Zverev himself reflected on the enormity of his achievement during his winner's speech, highlighting his "extremely difficult" journey back from the horrific ankle injury he suffered during his semifinal clash against Rafael Nadal at the 2022 French Open.
He expressed his profound gratitude to his coaching team for their unwavering support during the challenging period, admitting that he wouldn't be standing as the Italian Open champion without their backing.
"The last two years have been extremely difficult. Coming from an injury that I didn't know whether I was ever gonna be on this stage regardless of winning or losing so this moment is extremely special," he said during the trophy presentation.
"The first people that I want to thank is my team because without them the last two years I don't know where I would be, I would definitely not be a champion here," he added.
