Andy Murray assures Novak Djokovic he's taking care of himself while skiing after Serb's concerned comments
Andy Murray recently reassured Novak Djokovic that he is taking care of himself while skiing, following some concerned comments from the Serb about his skiing trip. Djokovic ended his six-year partnership with former coach Goran Ivanisevic in March 2024 after the Indian Wells Masters. In November, he announced that Murray would be joining his team as his coach for the 2025 season.
Djokovic is currently competing at the 2025 Brisbane International and he started his campaign by defeating wild card Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-3 in the first round. His second round opponent will be Frenchman Gael Monfils.
During the post-match on-court interview, Novak Djokovic said that Andy Murray was absent from his camp in Brisbane due to a family skiing trip. He expressed hope that the three-time Grand Slam champion doesn't injure himself before joining him at the Australian Open.
“He’s actually skiing at the moment, he has a family skiing trip. Sending my love to all the Murray family. I hope he doesn’t get injured, you know skiing before he comes to Melbourne. That wouldn’t be great,” the Serb said.
Murray responded to the Serb's concerns by sharing a video of himself skiing on the slopes, writing:
“I’m taking on some huge slopes as you can see but no injuries just yet 😂," he posted on X.
Additionally, the Serb is participating in the doubles event at the Brisbane International with Nick Kyrgios. The duo won their first-round match against Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies and will next face the top-seeded pair of Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus in the second round.

Djokovic boasts an impressive record at the Melbourne Major, having clinched the title 10 times to date. His most recent title win was in 2023, where he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
In 2024, the Serb was the defending champion and top seed in the tournament. He kicked off his campaign by defeating qualifier Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4 in the first round, followed by a victory over Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 in the second round.

In the quarterfinals, the 24-time Grand Slam champion secured a 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over 12th seed Taylor Fritz. However, his title defense came to an end in the semifinals when he lost to fourth seed and eventual champion Jannik Sinner 1-6, 2-6, 7-6(6), 3-6.
