Andy Roddick's wife Brooklyn Decker shares her feelings on 'one of the greatest joys' of Christmas season, plans to start new family tradition soon
Andy Roddick's wife, Brooklyn Decker, spoke about her favorite thing about the holiday season. She opened up about starting a new family tradition from the next year.
The former tennis player retired from professional tennis following the 2012 US Open as he wanted to focus on his work at the Andy Roddick Foundation. He was a 2003 US Open champion and has won a total of 32 tour-level singles titles. He also played an important role in helping Team US win the 2007 Davis Cup against Russia.
Roddick tied the knot with Brooklyn Decker on April 17, 2009 and ever since, they have been sharing updates of their lives on social media. Decker recently opened up about the holiday season and revealed that she will start a new family tradition of sending Christmas cards from next year by sharing a video on her Instagram story.
She stated that receiving Christmas cards and spending time with friends and family during the holiday season is her favorite thing to do at this time of the year.
"Okay, so one of the greatest joys of the holiday season for me is receiving Christmas cards from my friends and my family. Seeing my friends and family with their families over the holidays makes me so happy literally and I kid you not, I have left, those are the last ones that I can't quite reach. See up there, I leave your Christmas cards up all year in my house. So, if you sent me a Christmas card last year, it has been up in my house all year because it makes me so happy and this, I'm just starting to add this year's over here," said Brooklyn Decker.
"I've got a stack right here I am going to add. But I say all this because I have never sent them. I have yet to send a Christmas card. But I want you to know it's not because, so when you're sending me your card, it's not that you are not on my list; I just have never sent cards, and I think next year might be my first because it's one of the greatest joys of the holiday season, so thank you," she added.
Andy Roddick opened up about his relationship with wife Brooklyn Decker
Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker have been married to each other for the past 15 years and have navigated several adversities of their relationship together. In an interview with GQ Sports in August 2023, the former tennis player opened up about their journey together and said that initially he didn't plan to be serious but eventually got engaged six months into dating.
"I went from, 'I don't think I'm gonna get in a serious relationship forever,' and then we were engaged in, like, six months. And then we really got to know each other. With our relationship, I think that ego and insecurity about failing - and failing publicly - was very much a motivation to put our heads together and figure this out," said Roddick.
Andy Roddick and Decker started dating in 2007 and then got engaged in 2008. The couple got married in 2009 at an intimate ceremony at the former World No. 1's home in Austin, Texas. They have two children, including his son Hank, who they welcomed in 2015 and their daughter Stevie, who was born in 2017.
