Aryna Sabalenka's boyfriend Georgios Frangulis adorably wishes his father on birthday; shares endearing father-son moments
Aryna Sabalenka's boyfriend Georgios Frangulis recently penned an adorable birthday wish for his father, Elefterios Georg. Frangulis also shared a handful of heartwarming moments featuring himself and his father.
On Monday, December 16, Frangulis took to Instagram Stories and shared two posts to wish father Elefterios Georg on the latter's birthday. The first post featured Frangulis adorably planting a kiss on his father's head. It was captioned:
"Happy birthday dad" (translated from Greek)
The second post consisted of two pictures. One of them featured Frangulis and Elefterior Georg striking an all-smiles pose together, and the other one featured the father-son duo posing alongside Frangulis' racing car. Aryna Sabalenka's boyfriend is a motorsports enthusiast and continues to take part in races. This post had a caption as well.
"God bless you for another year," Frangulis wrote (translated from Portuguese).
Frangulis was born and raised in Brazil. However, his family is originally from Greece, which explains his birthday wishes for his father in both Portuguese and Greek.
Sabalenka began dating Frangulis earlier this year. The Belarusian and the Brazilian first struck up a close friendship, with the latter attending several of the now-World No. 1's matches across different tournaments. Eventually, they confirmed that they are in a romantic relationship. Since then, the couple has been almost inseparable, frequently traveling together.
Frangulis featured prominently in Sabalenka's 2024 US Open celebrations. The Brazilian, who founded Oakberry, also reveled in the Belarusian finishing the year as the top-ranked women's singles tennis player in the world. Meanwhile, Sabalenka became a brand ambassador for Oakberry.
Earlier this year, the World No. 1 laid bare the vital role that Frangulis played in keeping her spirits up, especially after a tragic incident involving the Belarusian's former boyfriend.
"Georgios Frangulis was my biggest support" - Aryna Sabalenka
In the buildup to the 2024 Miami Open, Aryna Sabalenka's ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov passed away, with the death being ruled as apparent suicide by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Even though Sabalenka later revealed that she and Koltsov had split by the time the latter tragically took his own life, the incident came as a big personal blow for the Belarusian.
During her run to the 2024 US Open title, Sabalenka told People about how Frangulis helped her stay positive.
"There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff. But I make sure I kind of forget about tennis and focus on the good things and enjoy my life. Even when things are going wrong in my career. So yeah, he was my biggest support and yeah, really happy to have him by my side," Sabalenka told People.
Sabalenka is set to kickstart her 2025 season at the Brisbane International, where she will be the top seed. The Belarusian reached the final of the WTA 500 event last season, where she had to settle for second-best against Elena Rybakina.
